Dr. Bingshe Xu is a professor at the institute of atomic and molecular science, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology (SUST). He received his Ph.D in 1994 from the University of Tokyo, Japan. He worked as a post-doctor at Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) during 1994-1998. From 1998, he served as a dean at school of materials science and engineering at Taiyuan University of Technology until 2004, and during 2003-2016 he worked as a vice president of Taiyuan University of Technology. From 2005, he started his new position as a director at key laboratory for interface science and engineering of novel materials (the ministry of education), a director at the national local joint research center for key technology of semiconductor lighting, and a director at the research center for semiconductor lighting project in Shanxi Province. Since 2016, he has worked as a distinguished leading scientist in SUST. Prof. Xu’s team at SUST has three research groups, focusing on photoelectric film material and devices, ultra microstructure characterization and functional nano-materials.
He was elected as a member of Trans-Century Talents for the Ministry of Education, 2000. He won innovative talents of Returned Overseas Chinese Federation in 2007, and National outstanding professional and technical personnel in 2014. His team was awarded outstanding innovation team in Shanxi Province in 2005, and Cheung Kong Scholars and innovative research team plan of the ministry of education in 2009. He is a State Council Expert for Special Allowance, and a senior expert in the connection of central government and Shanxi Province. He serves as a Standing Committee Member of the Chinese Microscopy Society, the Chinese materials research society, and the Chinese society for composite materials, and a vice president of the 9th council of the Chinese mechanical Engineering society. He is the editor for International Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering, Novel Carbon Materials, Journal of Chinese Electron Microscopy Society, Acta Material Compositae Sinica, and Material Review.
He has completed 50 projects, including China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists, National Basic Research Program (973 program), international science and technology cooperation projects of national ministry of science and technology, major research projects of national natural science foundation, the national natural science foundation of China, and a key project of Shanxi Province. He has published 365 journal papers, including Nature Commun., Adv. Funct. Mater., Sci. Reps., Appl. Phys. Lett., Acta Mater.. He was the Editor in chief of 10 textbooks. He has been awarded 12 prizes, including the National Award for Technological Invention (2009); National Award for Science and Technology Progress (2014); Scientific and technological inventions of Shanxi Province (2006), Provincial science and technology awards.
